”SØLVFELL OG JEG”

by the Spanish poet and Nobel laureate JUAN RAMON JIMENEZ

Guitar compositions by: EDUARDO SAINZ DE LA MAZA
Guitar: ANDERS CLEMENS ØIEN
Storyteller: BIRGITTE  GRIMSTAD

The little donkey Platero – ( Sølvfell in Norwegian)- is best friends with Juan Ramon Jimenez.  He rides long trips on it every day through the village Moguèr and philosophises and talks to it about people they meet, about joys and sorrows, about the colours of the sunset, about flowers, fruits and smells…
…wondrously sweet…shockingly brutal…
The donkey is like his prolonged antenna, it senses trouble before he does, - it rejoices when it understands that they are heading for the clear water in the well, or for the great figue tree to play with the children.  But object loudly when he denies it to visit the love of its heart, - and then they both make a racket to be heard over the whole valley.
The stories, or poems rather, are loved by everyone in Spain.

"It is a childrens' book for grown-ups, says Jimenez.
Everyone knows PLATERO Y YO.
